Beware the Ron Paul/Chuck Baldwin supporters!

Fringe radio host Alex Jones has apparently had a field day with this piece of analysis produced by the Missouri Information Analysis Center. The Internet is abuzz with breathless articles citing Jones’ website as a source of proof that the government thinks that anyone who supports a third party candidate for president is a terrorist.

Are they victims of the economy, changing consumer preferences in favor of new media, or their vile liberal bias?
The Minneapolis Star Tribune has filed for bankruptcy, becoming the latest newspaper to financially flame out under a heavy debt load and a punishing decline in advertising revenue. [...] The Star Tribune’s bankruptcy filing comes about a month after Tribune Co, publisher of two of the largest papers in the United States — the Los Angeles Times and Chicago Tribune — filed for bankruptcy.
But the Strib is just the latest in a string of newspapers to run up a red flag. (more…)

While the Consumer Electronics Show is probably a bit subdued this year because of the uncertain U.S. economy, at least one new product is worth mentioning. There’s a good chance you’ll have something like it in your next car.
Blaupunkt and online Internet radio portal miRoamer have teamed up to offer an in-dash Internet car radio. This is the type of product that I predicted two years ago would be the death of Sirius/XM. (more…)

In the fall of 2006, I had the pleasure to interview a long-time professor of Russian history at the University of Missouri, Charles E. Timberlake. Professor Timberlake taught at Mizzou for 37 years until his retirement in 2004. The largest group owner of radio stations in the U.S. is launching an online radio network:
CLEAR CHANNEL RADIO and KATZ MEDIA GROUP have announced a new online radio network. Called the KATZ ONLINE NETWORK, the network is the first to incorporate CLEAR CHANNEL and KATZ’s 1200 affiliates with independent Internet radio stations with the online and mobile streams of leading AM, FM stations and popular syndicated content.
Immediately, the KATZ ONLINE NETWORK delivers 79 million sessions per month and a unique audience of nearly five million listeners per week, as measured by ANDO MEDIA’s WEBCAST METRICS.
