Diplomatic language is one thing. Avoiding what everyone can plainly see is another. Bending over backwards and rewriting our history is just kissing up.

The first Islamic center was opened 270 years after the first English (and Christian) settlers landed on these shores. The first mosque was built more than 300 years after Plymouth Rock.
Woven into the fabric of our country since its founding? Not unless you count the Barbary Wars.
